Charlie Crist may not have hundreds of thousands of dollars in his freezer or traded voters fort hookers (or he may, but it's doubtful). But make no mistake -- he condones corruption, doesn't try and fight it, and he lets others steal from his beloved people.Every Democrat, reporter, and bystander runs to tell me he's a nice guy. Yeah, a nice guy, like the dude who is a good date and then lets his buddies steal everything thing from your apartment after you leave the next morning.
For example, Naked Politics reports that Charlie refuses to even return the money raised by indicted former Republican Party Finance Chairman, Harry Sargeant. He says he is doing this because:Well Charlie who pays for this website: www.charliecrist.com? Oh yes -- it is required to say it at the bottom: "Paid for and sponsored by the Republican Party of Florida""Well, we looked at that early on, and uh, I don't have an account anymore,''
Someone made illegal donations to the party you lead and pays for your campaign activities -- and just because you don't have a campaign account doesn't mean you can run away from the mess you left in Tallahassee. You do have an account Charlie -- it is the RPOF. Why won't the RPOF give back the money? Better yet, why won't you make them?
This isn't the first corruption by Republicans he has let slide. Let's review what's happened with Charlie in Charge (cue the theme music) of our government in just the past few months:
- He cut billions in education and health care hurting thousands of Floridians, but he is not making any sacrifices. Charlie makes it seem like he's cutting less. but he's still taking tax-payer funded escapdes to Europe and keeping a chef and butler for himsef.
- Fellow Republican leader Ray Sansom is under investigation for misuse of his position, but Sansom still is in the leadership of the State House as Policy Director. Charlie never asked him to resign or even apologize.
- His Lt. Governor, Jeff Kottkamp has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly himself and his family around the state. He re-paid the money, but no consequences. Charlie hasn't reprimanded Kottkamp or even sold any planeof the planes.
- His handpicked RPOF chairman misused finanaces for personal use. But Charlie didn't replace the chairman when he had the chance; he won't even ask for an audit as have many in his party.
- His Finance Chairman is under indictment for funneling illegal donations to him and the RPOF. Charlie is playing hot potato with the money instead of giving it back.
At the very least, Charlie condones corruption. He has the responsiblity to make Tallahassee a clean city or at least say its a bad idea.
For a Governor the people -- he seems to not stick up for the people very often.
